"So today in the studio we played around with lighting black glass using reflections. By putting a piece of black glass on a table with a white seamless a few feet behind it. We were able to create different gradations on the glass by using reflections. The result is very smooth gradations without having to deal with lighting products on crappy paper. The benefit is keeping the key subject light very separate from the background lights. These were shot on Valeo 17 large format digital backs. While they may only be 17MP... Because of the huge 4x5 inch sensor we are able to capture much ore detail. On top of that, the sensor does not have a moire filter so we get a much sharper image straight out of the camera."
Here are our shots so far... we completed 6/10 in a continuous 7 hour 30 minutes; we check out studios for a maximum of 9 hours (straight).
Assignment: 10 shots, plus a grey card shot (total 11).
This is how sharp we have to be (with focus, can only see through LiveView on the computer). What a gross piece of dust!
