Editorial Portrait

Purpose: To take two shots (a cover, vertical; and an inside spread, horizontal) for a magazine. Editorial style, basically showing two things a (working) person did during their regular work day.

Model: Rey Lejano, AP Economics teacher (as shown) and JV tennis coach (soon to be varsity). Definitely one of my favorite teachers at Esperanza (and of teachers overall). Note to self: still need a model release.

Set up: Diffusion flat between flash and subject. Didn't have a stand head for my flash so that was on a table or any available place, and the diffusion flat was anywhere nearby where I could put it (had no diffusion flat stand either). Fairly unprepared shoot :\ Model was great though :) Much appreciated!

Seen here diligently entering in grades to his laptop... with a pen in his hand (didn't notice it until the teacher pointed it out).

Look at those excellent graphs! :)

Assignment: Final shots came out underexposed but the teacher really liked the concept that I was going for. Original shots in on time, received two C's. The shots that you see here are lightened in Adobe Camera RAW (part of Adobe Bridge).
